Smart Dubai accelerating AI powered city of the future

Smart Dubai is leading Dubai’s AI Roadmap and has established a first of its kind AI Lab, in partnership with IBM to pilot and harness the power of AI and machine learning for government and city services and experiences. The Lab works with a growing network of partners from across government and private sector, providing the essential tools and go-to-market support that enables them to implement AI services and applications within their respective fields. The Lab also hosts workshops and training sessions to upskill, inform and engage the wider community to infuse AI into the fabric of the city and its operating systems, and use this ground-breaking technology.

Dubai is not just leading the way in implementing and investing AI, but also in how it is governed. In 2019, Smart Dubai outlined standards for AI systems, through its ‘Ethical AI Toolkit’, to ensure they are fair, transparent and accountable.

Global corporations eye Dubai as data centre hub

The MENA cloud infrastructure services market is expected to grow from US$2.66 billion in 2017 to US$8.79 billion by 2022, at a CAGR of 27%. Gulf States have also seen the expansion of the Global Cloud Service Providers with IBM Cloud, Oracle Cloud and Alibaba Cloud establishing cloud nodes in the region.
